- ★ ☆ ☆ ☆ ☆Dear Mishawaka Police Department, It is primitive and barbaric for Police Departments to be shooting people's Pets. This is in reference to the shooting death of a Pet Dog named Pork Chop by one of your Officer's on October 25, 2016. The shooting was completely unacceptable, everyone in our communities all across America seem to know how to interact with Pets, it's time for law enforcement to EVOLVE. I am reaching out to you with great hope of a brighter future for our Pets, it is estimated that 70 to 80 million Pet Dogs live in this Country, we consider Pets our family members. Every single day in this Country a Pet Dog loses their life to the use of lethal force by law enforcement. Dogs do what is natural to them, they protect their loved ones and their homes, they shouldn’t lose their lives over that. There is an online training video that I would like to share with you the website address is: cops. igpa.uillinois.edu/resources/police-dog-encounters I was fortunate to grow up with Dogs, and most of them were big Dogs, but not everyone is that lucky, so I’m quite sure that there are Police Officer’s that are frightened of Dogs, and that is a recipe for disaster. Please have your Police Officers watch the training video, because knowledge is power, and it will save the lives of our Voiceless Citizen’s, the ones that can’t dial 911.
